Support for Managing Stress

What is Stress?

Stress is a natural response to the demands and pressures of life. It’s a feeling of mental or emotional strain that can be caused by a wide range of factors, including work, relationships, and financial worries. While some stress is normal and even beneficial, excessive or chronic stress can have a negative impact on our mental and physical health.

Signs & Symptoms of Stress

Symptoms of stress can manifest in a variety of ways, including physiological responses such as increased heart rate, muscle tension, and sweating, as well as psychological symptoms such as irritability, difficulty concentrating, and feeling overwhelmed. Stress can also cause changes in behaviour, including changes in appetite, sleep patterns, and increased use of substances such as alcohol or drugs

How can Counselling help?

Counselling can provide individuals with effective tools to manage stress by exploring the underlying causes of stress, identifying negative thought patterns, and developing coping strategies. Through talking therapy, you can learn to recognise stress triggers, develop self-awareness, and implement stress management techniques such as mindfulness, deep breathing, and relaxation exercises.
